          Job Skill Training/Placement/Coaching

   General computer literacy, targeted job skills such as resume writing and filling out job applications and KeyTrain software (provided by the Workforce Investment Board of Northeast Indiana) done in the Computer room, with translation or interpretation provided as needed from volunteers.

   Classes are taught daily  (9:00 AM – 11:0am).  Class size is limited by the number of computer stations available (8)       Participants who are hired for work are accompanied on the job for part of a day by a bi-lingual “Job coach” who will explain and/or demonstrate how to do the job, explain employer expectations, and be a bridge between the new employee and the company until both employee and employer are satisfied or for up to 4 weeks.   Job coaching will be up to 5 days a week

The Employment Services Coordinator conducts these classes and also utilizes other resources from the community.

   Tuesday and Thursday afternoon are used to take participants to potential job opportunities and/or meet current employers of participants to address any concerns arising from refugees already employed.
