Success Stories

My biggest fear when I arrived in America was driving, I knew and understood within few days of my arrival, through Tony Aduro (AISEDA) that I will never have my complete independence without me being able to drive to work and take my family to grocery store or doctor visits. I thought it was a joke until I began to see things for myself, I have to rely on others 100% of the time to have things done for myself or my family. I decided to participate in the free driving lesson classes at AISEDA, today because of the efforts of this organization’s volunteers and wiliness of the staff to train me with their personal vehicle I have conquered my fear, I passed my driving test and I am now able to take care of my family without waiting hours for help from others.

For several years I’ve always believed that white people are guilty of slavery, but in just one day AISEDA changed my view and thought process. The civic education program game me an opportunity to visit the Lincoln Museum with other participants, there I learnt and saw how hard Abraham Lincoln fought so hard for the rights of the slaves and to abolish slavery. Through AISEDA I also understood what democracy is all about and the benefit to the community, I hope to go back to my country one day and make positive changes for mankind thanks AISEDA!!

When I was told that home ownership is an American dream for everyone, as a resettled refugee I never imagined I am one of those dreamers until I started getting assistance from AISEDA, and was informed that the dream is for everyone including me. AISEDA provided me with all the trainings and step by step process of owning a house. Today I am a proud home owner.
